We used MXMerchant for the first time last year to capture credit card information from Gala attendees who wanted to "pre-register" their credit cards for possible silent and live auction purchases - authorize us to initiate a charge later . We manually entered their information when we welcomed guests and it worked very well. The day after gala, I was able to run all the charges with hardly any rejections. However, it would be great for organizations like ours - to give attendees the opportunity to do so in ADVANCE of the gala--either at the same time they purchase a ticket, or simply when given the opportunity to do so via an email. Would save time at registration and would, hopefully, encourage more people to pre-register.
